Alientech ECM Titanium Update!

ECM Titanium on Renault Truck T520: +80 HP and more efficiency on long journeys.

The Renault Truck T520 with its 12.800 DTI engine delivering 520 HP is a benchmark in long-haul heavy transport. Reliability and robustness are its main strengths, but for a vehicle working daily in demanding conditions, even small optimizations can make a difference in terms of fuel consumption and operational efficiency.

The goal of the intervention was clear: improve overall performance and reduce fuel consumption, ensuring more torque available under full load and smoother driving.

Focus on technical specifications:

  • ECU: TRW EMS2.3
  • Type: Inline six-cylinder turbo diesel engine
  • Displacement: 12.8 liters (12.777 cc)
  • Power: 520 HP (382 kW) from 1.430 to 1.800 rpm
  • Torque: 2550 Nm from 1.000 to 1.430 rpm

What results were achieved?
The adjustments focused on key engine management parameters, with the aim of optimizing combustion and exploiting the engine’s full potential, while respecting all support systems, including after-treatment:

Turbo pressure

Slightly and progressively increased to improve cylinder filling and provide more air for combustion without compromising component reliability.

Injection timing

Optimized for more efficient combustion: fuel injection was made more precise, improving the balance between performance and consumption.

Torque demand and pedal response maps

Recalibrated to make the engine more responsive at mid-range, eliminating overly conservative limitations and allowing the driver to maintain longer gears at lower revs.

Results obtained:

  • Power: from 520 HP → 600 HP
  • Torque: from 2550 Nm → 2850 Nm
  • Consumption: optimized for long-distance journeys
