CMDFLASH Update!
Introducing the New ECU Auto-Recovery Feature
We are excited to launch a powerful new feature designed to help you quickly and safely restore a control unit (ECU) that has been damaged or "bricked" by a poorly modified or incorrect file, regardless of which tuning tool was used for the modification. It's your ultimate safety net for problematic ECUs.
This feature is supported for both MASTER and SLAVE users.
The AUTO-Recover protocol currently supports VAG Group ECUs: MEDC17, MDG1, and DCM6.2. In upcoming releases,we will progressively add support for many additional ECUs across various automotive brands.
What is Auto-Recovery and Who is it For?
This feature is specifically dedicated to customers who need to restore an ECU to a 100% factory (stock) condition after a failed tuning attempt or a file corruption especially when OBD communication is no longer possible.
This feature is supported for both MASTER and SLAVE users.
For SLAVE users, there's no need to send any files to their respective MASTER users. Everything will be executed in real time, eliminating the need to send any files via email.
Key Prerequisites for Use
For this feature to work, your control unit must meet two critical technical requirements:
- Protocol Availability: The unit must be accessible using the BENCH or BOOT protocol.
- Protocol Status: The necessary BENCH or BOOT protocol for this specific unit must be unlocked and unprotected.
If these two conditions are met, you can proceed with the recovery.
How the AUTO-RECOVER Command Works
- Information Check: When available, the AUTO-RECOVER command may prompt you for some basic information, such as the Software (SW) number of the ECU.
- Prerequisite Validation: The system will perform an internal check to ensure all necessary conditions (like the protocol status) are met.
- Automatic Sequence: The recovery sequence will start automatically.
- Step 1: Backup. The system will generate a complete backup of the ECU before starting the recovery operation.
- Step 2: Recovery File Generation. A dedicated recovery file will be built based on the ECU's original stock data.
- Step 3: Flashing. The recovery file will be automatically written to the control unit.
Data and File Management
All files related to this process are automatically saved for your convenience:
- Files Saved: Both the pre-operation Backup and the Recovery File that was written to the ECU.
- Location: Both files will be stored in your dedicated MyECUBackups folder.
- Reuse: These saved files can be reused by you in the future if needed.
Billing and Subscription Information
Your subscription will be debited for the use of this service according to the following rules:
- Cost: Once both the backup and recovery files have been successfully saved to your MyECUBackups folder, your subscription will be scaled down by three (3) days from its expiration date.
- Timing: This deduction occurs regardless of whether the file successfully recovers the ECU or not. The charge is for the service of generating and preparing the files for flashing.
- No Charge Scenario: This payment will not occur if the system is unable to construct the necessary recovery file in the first place (e.g., if the required stock data is unavailable).
IMPORTANT: Post-Recovery State (100% Stock)
We must emphasize that a successful recovery will return the ECU to its 100% factory (stock) state. This has critical implications for your vehicle:
If the vehicle was previously modified to bypass or remove features (such as clearing specific error codes, disabling the immobilizer, turning off ADBLUE/DEF systems, etc.), the vehicle may now display errors in memory or may not start at all.
This is because the factory file does not contain those necessary modifications; it is a pristine stock file. Any non-standard modifications (Immo Off, DTC Clear, etc.) that were needed for the vehicle to run correctly must be reapplied after the ECU is successfully recovered to the stock state.
Auto-recover Service Agreement & Disclaimer
Please read the following terms carefully before proceeding. You must accept these terms to use the "Auto-recover" service.
- Service and Fee: The "Auto-recover" service is a paid function. The fee for using this service is equivalent to 3 (three) days of your subscription.
- When the Fee is Charged: The 3-day subscription fee will be deducted only if the following two conditions are met:
- All system prerequisites for the recovery are satisfied.
- Our server successfully generates a 100% stock recovery file based on your data.
- Disclaimer of Warranty (Important): You acknowledge and agree that the fee is for the recovery attempt and the generation of the file, not for a guaranteed successful repair.
The 3-day subscription fee will be charged even if the generated stock file fails to restore the ECU to proper working condition.
- No-Charge Condition: No subscription days will be deducted if our server is unable to generate a recovery file (e.g., prerequisites are not met or a file is not available).
