How to Remove Fault Codes with WinOLS

In this training course, we will teach you how to clear all "P codes" and "U codes" and after completing this course, you will be able to clear all P and U fault codes (DTC).

There are several software for DTC Off Service including Swiftec and WinOLS and etc. (Note that ECM Titanium cannot remove fault codes). 

You can learn DTC Removal/ Fault code Delete by WinOLS software.

In our opinion, WinOLS is the best software for DTC removal because with WinOLS you can manually clear all kinds of fault codes and have access to all of them, which is an advantage that other software does not offer. For this reason, WinOLS is the best possible choice for DTC removal.

TRW VOLVO & RENAULT TRCUKS, DPF EGR OFF Training Course:

Volvo trucks and Renault trucks use TRW ECUs. There are four types of TRW ECUs used in these trucks, which include EMS 2, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4. Of course, in addition to Volvo and Renault trucks, other vehicles also use TRW ECUs, but here we are only focusing on Volvo and Renault trucks.

Volvo & Renault truck DPF off for TRW ECUs:

Volvo and Renault trucks, both part of the Volvo Group, share many common engine and ECU technologies, particularly in the Euro 5 and Euro 6 types. These vehicles are equipped with advanced aftertreatment systems, including the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), designed to reduce soot emissions by trapping and incinerating particulate matter. While the DPF plays a critical role in environmental compliance, it is also a source of increased maintenance costs, fuel consumption, and potential downtime, especially in long-haul applications or poor operating conditions.

A DPF off solution refers to the complete deactivation of the DPF system via ECU recalibration. This involves modifying the vehicle’s Engine Control Unit (ECU) software to stop monitoring differential pressure sensors, exhaust temperature sensors, and regeneration logic. In the case of Volvo and Renault trucks, this process is done through ECUs such as the EMS 2, EMS 2.2, EMS 2.3 and EMS 2.4 using specialized tools like KTAG, KESS3 or Volvo-specific reprogramming suites.

Once correctly modified, the truck will no longer perform active or passive regenerations, and it will not generate DPF-related fault codes or enter limp mode. However, it is crucial to perform a physical DPF delete in tandem with software changes to prevent backpressure and overheating. Many off-road operators and export markets utilize DPF off solutions to improve fuel economy and reduce costly maintenance cycles.

It is important to note that DPF removal is not legal for on-road use in many jurisdictions, including EU countries and North America. These solutions are only recommended for off-highway, motorsport, or export purposes where emissions compliance is not required.

In this training course, we will teach you how to perform DPF removal for all types of TRW ECUs used in Volvo and Renault trucks.

Volvo & Renault truck EGR off for TRW ECUs:

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system is a key emissions control technology in both Volvo and Renault trucks, particularly those with Euro 5 and Euro 5 engines. Its purpose is to redirect a portion of exhaust gases back into the intake manifold, lowering combustion temperatures and reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. While this contributes to environmental performance, EGR systems are also notorious for causing carbon buildup, intake fouling, performance loss, and mechanical failures such as clogged EGR valves and cracked coolers.

An EGR off solution involves software-level deactivation of the EGR system in the ECU, effectively eliminating all valve operation, flow monitoring, and fault diagnostics related to the system. In Volvo and Renault trucks equipped with ECU platforms such as EMS 2, EMS 2.2, EMS 2.3 or EMS 2.4, this is achieved by reading the ECU via tools like KTAG or kess3, modifying the internal ECU maps, and writing the revised calibration back to the ECU.

EGR delete leads to cooler intake temperatures, improved engine efficiency, and a reduction in soot buildup throughout the intake and turbo system. Operators often report better throttle response, lower fuel consumption, and extended engine life.

EGR off is commonly performed on vehicles used in harsh operating environments (mining, agriculture, or high-load transport) or in regions without strict emissions regulations.

Adblue Reduction:

AdBlue reduction is a process that is often mistaken for AdBlue off.

This system is designed to reduce harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by injecting AdBlue (a urea-water solution) into the exhaust stream. The injected urea chemically reacts with NOx over a catalytic converter, converting it into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. AdBlue systems are essential components in modern Euro V, Euro VI, and EPA-compliant engines, particularly in commercial trucks, buses, and off-highway vehicles.

AdBlue reduction refers to the process in which, by adjusting the maps related to the injection amount of AdBlue fluid and making changes to these maps, the consumption of AdBlue is reduced, but the AdBlue system is not completely deactivated.

However, in certain situations, such as off-road use, export vehicles, or regions without emissions enforcement, operators may choose to disable the AdBlue system to reduce operational costs and simplify maintenance.
